DEAC

Soproni KC is the name that comes up first when DEAC is discussed in the Hungarian top flight, a direct rival mentioned every time the two sides meet, and against that backdrop of Nemzeti Bajnokság I/A basketball Pécs and ZTE KK round out the list of clubs DEAC measures itself against.

The basketball section traces back to 1942, part of the wider Debreceni Egyetemi Atlétikai Club founded in 1919, though the current senior side really dates its competitive run to a re-establishment in 2011/2012, after years spent in the lower tiers. Promotion to NB I/A came in 2017, and the club has stayed there since, reaching the semi-finals in the 2024-25 season after finishing fifth.

The closest DEAC has come to a major trophy was the 2021 Magyar Kupa final, lost to Falco-Vulcano Energia KC Szombathely. Six years earlier, in 2015, the club won the Hepp Cup, a competition for lower-division sides.
