Flamengo Women

Nobody in Brazilian women's football has won Rio de Janeiro's state title as often as Flamengo. Nine Campeonato Carioca crowns — 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2023, 2024 and 2025 — make the club the outright record holder. A Brazilian championship followed early, in 2016, and has not been repeated since; two Copa Rio titles, in 2023 and 2025, and a runner-up finish in the 2023 Supercopa do Brasil.

The team's first attempt at existing lasted six years: formed in 1995, it folded in 2001. Flamengo did not field a women's side again until 2011, when coach Cleiton Lima took charge — to sign Marta. The programme found its footing in 2015, when a partnership with the Brazilian Navy gave it the structure to compete in the national top flight; that arrangement held for a decade before the club moved women's football under its Olympic sports department in 2025.

Home games are split between the Estádio da Gávea, known formally as Estádio José Bastos Padilha and holding 6,000, and the smaller Luso-Brasileiro on Ilha do Urubu, also called Arena Petrobrás, for 5,044. The Maracanã stays reserved for occasional fixtures rather than a fixed address. Fla-Flu against Fluminense remains the derby that matters most, with Vasco da Gama and Botafogo the other local rivals. Cristiane, Brazil's record scorer, and Duda Rodrigues both wore the shirt among a squad that has otherwise turned over year to year.

Rosana Augusto took charge in 2025, the first woman to coach a Flamengo team, men's or women's, in the club's history — a change arriving just as the programme adjusts to life outside the Navy partnership that shaped it for ten years.
