The women's game in São Paulo state has spent two decades funnelling its best players towards a handful of clubs. Santos took the Campeonato Paulista in 2007, then again in 2010 and 2011 — the same window in which they won back-to-back Copa Libertadores Femenina titles.

The team was set up in 1997 alongside the Pró-Esportes de Santos foundation: same white and black, same badge, no separate identity built for the women's side. The Vila Belmiro, listed at 17,923, is the home ground.

Then, at the end of 2012, the money ran out and the club shut the section down. It stayed shut for more than two years. Modesto Roma Júnior, on taking over as president, brought the team back in February 2015, and the second era produced the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A1 in 2017, followed by a fourth Paulista title in 2018.

Santos spent 2025 in Série A2, the second tier, and returned to Série A1 for 2026.

What sharpens the fixture list is that the Paulista rivals never went away.
