Juventude's women's side reached the top flight of Brazilian football in July 2024.

The team was first put together in the 1990s, then disbanded. What came back in 2021 was rebuilt from scratch inside a club whose men's side dates to 29 June 1913.

That earlier version did leave something behind. Between 2004 and 2006 it won the Campeonato Gaúcho de Futebol Feminino three seasons running — the state title in Rio Grande do Sul. The side reached the Campeã do Interior final again in 2024.

The green and white is where the nickname comes from: Esmeraldas , the emeralds.

The task now is a straightforward one: stay in it.
