Fulgencio Yegros

Rivalry in Ñemby has never needed a trophy to sustain it: local bragging rights in the Central department carry their own weight.

The club took its name and its date early — 14 May 1924 — and never strayed from the small ground it still calls home, the Parque Fulgencio Yegros, which holds 1,000 people and has stayed exactly that size while the club's ambitions stayed local too. Red, green and white stripes have marked the shirt since, and the nickname El Prócer follows the club's namesake rather than anything won on the pitch.

National silverware never arrived. Fulgencio Yegros worked its way through the Paraguayan federation's divisions without breaking through, and in 2021 dropped out of the Division Intermedia, the country's second tier. What the club has to show for a century of playing lives instead in the regional competition, the Liga Regional del Sud de Fútbol, contested among the clubs of the south-central towns it has always measured itself against.

There, El Prócer has been champion seven times.
