Lota Schwager

Lota Schwager go into this Tercera B campaign as the reigning champions of the southern group, the title settled with a 2–0 win over Naval in the last round of 2024, and Coronel expects them to push the promotion picture again this year.

The club grew out of coal. Two mining-community sides, Minas Lota and Federico Schwager, merged on 10 May 1966, and the shirt still carries that arithmetic: a white base for neutral ground, a red stripe for the Schwager side, a green one for Minas Lota, and a black stripe for the coal itself. The nickname Lamparita — "little lamp" — points the same way, back to the miners' lamps rather than to anything won on a pitch.

What Lota Schwager have won came in the lower divisions. They took Segunda División in 1969, finishing four points clear of Ñublense and San Luis, and again in 1986. Tercera División followed in 2001, decided over a three-match final against Deportes Copiapó. A run to the 1975 Copa Chile final ended the other way, a 4–0 defeat to Palestino.

Home games are played at Estadio Federico Schwager, which holds 5,700. It is a small ground for a club whose identity was built on two much larger workforces, and that mismatch between the mining history and the modest stadium is part of what Coronel supporters mean when they call the team Los Mineros.

For now the target is straightforward: carry the momentum from the group win into a higher tier and stay there.
