Three Tercera División titles carry the story: 1987, 1998 and 2014.

Founded on 23 January 1957 in San Fernando, the club has never played in the Primera División. Its supporters use several names for it — Sanfernandinos after the town, Chagua as shorthand, La Herradura, the Horseshoe. Home shirts, shorts and socks are white throughout; the away kit is blue in the same fashion.

Among those who have managed here is Jorge Toro, who played for Chile at the 1962 World Cup, and Francisco Arrué, an Olympic medallist in 2000. Neither arrival changed the division the club plays in.

The Estadio Municipal Jorge Silva Valenzuela holds 7,200, though the figure advertised for a given match is often lower.

What fills it is Deportes Santa Cruz. The fixture is known as the Clásico Huaso, named for the horsemen of the Chilean countryside that both towns sit in, and it is the date the season is measured against. Rangers and O'Higgins from Rancagua bring their own weight, and Chimbarongo FC supplies a smaller regional derby, but neither carries what Santa Cruz does.
