Sydney Head has spent her time in goal for a team still finding its footing: Marin FC Siren came within one match of a Northern California Division title in their very first season, falling 3-2 to San Francisco Glens in 2023. The club plays as part of the USL W League, the summer platform for pre-professional women's players, and sits under the wider Marin FC banner, an organisation that has run in San Rafael since 2004.
Elsa Nolen has given the club its sharper moments since, her goal against Oakland Soul in 2024.
Home games are played at the John F. Allen Athletics Complex and Kennelly Field, the San Rafael High School ground, which holds around 3,000. The division draws them into a cluster of Northern California sides — Stockton Cargo, Oakland Soul, Monterey Bay FC Women, the Olympic Club and others — matches that double as trips up and down the Bay Area rather than long road campaigns.
No league title or cup has followed that opening near-miss. For a club barely three years old, the task ahead is the same one it faced at kickoff in 2023.
