Oakland Soul

Oakland Soul SC sit in the Nor Cal Division of the USL W League, the amateur tier that sits outside the professional pyramid of American women's soccer. The club finished second in the division three seasons running, 2023 through 2025, reaching the conference semi-final in the first two of those years. 2026 broke the pattern: third place, and no playoff football for the first time.

The side traces to 24 May 2022, when Oakland Roots Sports Club — the men's team already playing since 2018 — announced a women's amateur project. A crest and identity followed on 22 June, and Soul took the field for their first USL W League match on 23 June 2023, just over a year after the original announcement. Home games are played at Merritt College Soccer Stadium, capacity 3,451.

Black at home, white away, with purple and yellow surfacing in the alternate kits. San Francisco Glens SC are the club's stated rivals in the Nor Cal Division, alongside Marin FC Siren and California Storm.

Ownership runs through the same community model as the Roots, with backers who include Marshawn Lynch, Billie Joe Armstrong and G-Eazy.

Miranda Nild wears the captain's armband. She played for Thailand at the 2019 World Cup.
