«The Metalworkers»
Emil Rajković pulled on the blue and white of MZT Skopje as a player and went on to become a successful coach.
The club began in 1966 as the works team of the Metalski Zavod Tito factory. That is why supporters still call it The Metalworkers. The other nickname, The Storks, comes from the emblem of Aerodrom, the Skopje municipality where the club is based.
In 2009 the money ran out. Fans marched through the city in what became known as the "March for Salvation", and the Municipality of Aerodrom stepped in to keep the club alive. The club won the Macedonian Cup in 1996, 1997, 1999 and 2000, then had a long gap before the next one. In 2012, three years after the march, it won the league and the cup in the same season.
The run broke in 2018. The title came back in 2019, and from 2021 to 2025 the club won it every year. Rabotnički, the other Skopje side, are the opponent in the "Eternal derby".
The Jane Sandanski Arena holds 5,850. All 12 of the club's league titles came after that march.
