Ulverstone

The 1986 Tasmanian State Championship came down to two legs and a single goal: Ulverstone beat White Eagles 2–1 on aggregate, and the club from the north-west coast had the state title.

Among the players in those two sides were the Conkie twins, Shaun and Adam, who left afterwards for the Morwell Falcons in the National Soccer League. Adam did not stay in the game — he switched codes to Australian rules.

The other name attached to Ulverstone belongs to Jeremy Walker, the first player from Tasmania to sign a professional contract in the A-League when he joined Melbourne Heart in 2013. He also played for Australia at under-20 level.

Home is the Ulverstone Showgrounds on Flora Street in West Ulverstone, a ground for about 1,000 people. The red that gives the club its nickname — The Reds — runs through the kits alongside black and white, including in the junior sides.

Founded in 1961, Ulverstone has been accepted into NPL Tasmania for the 2026 season, moving up from the Northern Championship.
