Velké Meziříčí is a small town in the Vysočina region, and volleyball there runs through the Sportovní hala ZŠ Komenského, a school gymnasium with low benches rather than proper stands. Chance Český pohár matches there have drawn crowds of around fifty. A new multi-purpose hall with 350 seats is under construction, with the foundation stone laid in March 2026.

TJ Spartak Velké Meziříčí, known locally as Velmez, was founded in 1932. The men's team has played in the 1. liga, the second tier of Czech volleyball, since 2016, and the 2022/23 season brought the club's best result in any collective sport the town has produced: fourth place, reached after wins over Lvi Praha and Sokol Bučovice in the play-offs before Dobřichovice and Liberec ended the run in the semifinals.

Matches against Vysočina Jihlava carry a regional edge.

Petr Juda has coached the men's team since 1998. Before that spell in Velké Meziříčí, he took the Czech Cadet National Team to fourth place at the World Championship.
