WDSC Wolves

The Grand Final of 2023 went the way Wynnum Wolves wanted it to: a single goal against Surfers Paradise Apollo, enough to take the FQPL 1 Men's Championship and, with it, promotion into the National Premier Leagues Queensland, where the club has played since 2024. It had taken six years to get there from the point of readmission to the Football Queensland Premier League in 2017.

Brisbane Premier League titles came in 2009, 2010 and 2012, then slipped away in 2011, when Rochedale Rovers won the Grand Final 3–1. A decade earlier, in 2001, the club reached the Queensland Soccer Federation XXXX Premier League final and lost it to Brisbane City on penalties after the match finished goalless. Further back still sits the Ampol Cup, won in 1997.

Jack Hingert joined in 2025 with an A-League career at Brisbane Roar behind him and international appearances for Sri Lanka. In 2021, Scott McDonald, once of the Australian national side, took charge as guest coach for a season.

The club plays as WDSC — Wynnum District Soccer Club — out of the Brisbane suburb of Wynnum, in yellow and black, at Carmichael Park on the Eddie Wilkins pitch. It was not always there. Matches were first played at the Gabba, Wembley Oval and Memorial Park before the club bought land on Bognor Street in 1966 and built Maramba Stadium. Talks over a further move, to Boundary Street in Tingalpa, opened in 1981 and took until 1994 to complete, shifting the Wolves onto the ground long shared with Wynnum-Manly District Cricket Club.

The Wolves were formed in 1921, in the district whose name they still carry.
