The title came down to a Silesian derby. In the 2022/23 season GKS Katowice's women took the Mistrzostwo Polski by beating Czarni Sosnowiec 4:1. They won it again in 2024/25, and in between put a cup in the cabinet: Puchar Polski in 2023/24, decided by a 3:0 win over WKS Śląsk Wrocław in the final.

The section dates from 2015, grafted onto a men's club that has carried the Górniczy Klub Sportowy name in Katowice since 1964, along with the yellow, green and black and the GieKSa nickname. Promotion to the Ekstraliga followed in 2018.

Karolina Koc has been in charge since 2022 — a former Katowice player and a Poland international.
