Slovan Liberec beat Hradec Kralove 2-0 on Saturday at U Nisi Stadium in the Czech League. The hosts extended their winning run to two matches with a result that felt earned rather than given. By then the game had settled into its shape, and the visitors were already playing with one man short.
L. Masek put Slovan ahead in the 42nd minute, finishing a move that had carved Hradec open down the left. The goal came after Slovan had been patient, passing around the edge of the box until a gap appeared. The visitors, already down to ten men after F. Cech's red card in the sixth minute, could do little more than watch.
That early dismissal changed everything. Hradec lost a central defender and were forced into a deeper block for the rest of the half. Slovan took their time, and when the break came the visitors were still chasing shadows. To be fair, they had not created anything meaningful before the incident, but the red card removed any remaining hope of a comeback.
A. Kayondo sealed the win in the 90th minute, tapping in after a cross that dropped into the six-yard box. Hradec had made three substitutions at half-time — D. Ludvicek, T. Sloncik and V. Stransky — but the damage had been done. Slovan controlled the tempo and did not travel to make up the numbers.

They held 52 per cent possession and played 407 passes, but it was not about possession — it was about knowing when to strike. Hradec managed 381 passes and relied on 18 dribbles, but without structure those runs went nowhere.
The result keeps Slovan fourth with 10 points from five games, while Hradec sit ninth with 7 from three. The hosts have now won two on the bounce, though they cannot afford another slip if they want to push for the top four.
