Austin FC II play in MLS Next Pro, the third-tier league. The side entered the league in 2022 and made its competitive debut in the 2023 season.

That debut season ended with the league title. Austin beat Columbus Crew 2 3-1 in the MLS Next Pro Cup final.

In the MLS Next Pro Invitational, Austin edged Cancún FC 2-1. Then came the Western Conference play-off decider against Colorado Rapids 2, settled on penalties. Austin did not retain it — but the run showed the second season was no drop from the first.

The supporters' name for the team, VerDos , folds Verde — the green the club plays in, alongside black — into the Spanish for two, which is what a reserve side is.
