San Jose Earthquakes II

For two seasons the badge on the shirt did not say San Jose Earthquakes II at all. In 2024 the club played as The Town FC, the result of a two-year commercial partnership with The Town Group, LLC, and it was under that name that the side won the Pacific Division and reached the Western Conference semi-finals in the MLS Next Pro play-offs. The arrangement ran its course in January 2026, and the club went back to the name it started with.

That start came on 6 December 2021, a few months before MLS Next Pro played its first fixture. The league was new, the reserve side was built for it, and San Jose entered the 2022 season with a squad meant to feed the first team above it — the same blue, black and white, one division down.

Home is PayPal Park, the 18,000-seat ground the senior side uses, which makes the reserve team an unusual tenant: a development squad playing in a stadium built for another audience. Some 2026 matches were moved to the Spartan Soccer Complex on the San Jose State University campus instead.

The division title of 2024 remains the club's one piece of silverware. It is not a major honour, and a reserve side is not built to collect them; what it did show was that the group assembled in 2021 could carry a season, top a division and win a play-off tie before running out of road in the Western Conference semi-finals.
