Kiekko-Espoo U20

In March 2016 the senior club carrying the Kiekko-Espoo name, by then known as Espoo Blues, went bankrupt. The junior teams kept training, and a year later Espoon Kiekkoseura and Espoon Palloseura founded a new association, Kiekko-Espoo ry, to run them. The under-20 side, which had played as Espoo Blues U20, switched back to Kiekko-Espoo for the 2017–18 season, a full year before a senior team took the ice again under that name.

The name itself goes back to February 1984, when Jäähonka, EPS and EJK merged into a single Espoo club. Espoo Metro Areena, where the U20 side now plays, holds nearly 7,000 for hockey — built for a senior crowd the junior team borrows.

On the ice against HIFK, the fixture is known locally as the Metroderby.
