The franchise itself is far older than the city's claim on it. It began play in 1969 as the Rosemont National in Montreal, moved to Laval two years later and spent the better part of three decades changing its name as often as its address — National, Voisins, Titan, Titan Collège Français — before settling in Acadie-Bathurst, New Brunswick, in 1998. It was there, as the Acadie-Bathurst Titan, that the club built the record it now carries to Newfoundland: six President's Cups as champions of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, taken in 1984, 1989, 1990 and 1993 under the Laval banner and again in 1999 and 2018 in New Brunswick, plus a Memorial Cup in 2018 that stands as the high point of the whole history.

Home games are now played at the Mary Brown's Centre, with the Cape Breton Eagles the natural rival across the water. The alumni list stretches back through the Laval years to two of the sport's biggest names, Mario Lemieux and Mike Bossy, both of whom wore the franchise's colours as teenagers long before Newfoundland had a team to claim as its own.
