Three times the Wildcats have lifted the President's Cup, in 2006, 2010, and 2025, when they beat the Rimouski Océanic 4–2 for the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League title. The first two, in 2006 and 2010, sent them to the Memorial Cup — in 2006 they went all the way to the national final as hosts before Quebec Remparts beat them 6–2, and in 2010, in Brandon, they went out in the round robin.
The franchise did not start under this name. Granted for the 1995–96 season as the Moncton Alpines, it was bought the following May by the New Brunswick businessman Robert K. Irving, who renamed it the Wildcats for their first season, 1996–97. Irving stayed on as owner and president until his death in 2024.
Brad Marchand and Phillip Danault moved through the same dressing room on their way up, while Conor Garland left holding the franchise records for points and assists.
Games against the Saint John Sea Dogs carry their own name, the Battle of New Brunswick, a rivalry that for years also drew in the Acadie-Bathurst Titan. Since 2018 the Wildcats have played at the Avenir Centre, a step up from the old Moncton Coliseum, where the seated capacity had been 6,554.
The Avenir Centre now holds 8,800 for a night of junior hockey in Moncton.
