Guy Carbonneau wore number 21 in Chicoutimi before he ever won a Stanley Cup, and the club retired it once he was done — one of a dozen numbers now hanging out of reach at the Centre Georges-Vézina. Félix Potvin's 29 sits alongside it.
The Saguenéens have not moved and have not renamed themselves since they joined the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League for the 1973–74 season. Chicoutimi's stayed put, even after the city itself was folded into the larger municipality of Saguenay.
That merger is what makes the 2022 logo change sting locally: the crest was simplified to a single "S", and the word "Chicoutimi" disappeared from it.
