Centre 200 in Sydney seats close to 5,000 for hockey. The rink has carried the franchise through two identities: the team arrived from Granby, Quebec, in 1997 as the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, and in August 2019 the name was trimmed to simply the Cape Breton Eagles.

What the club brought with it from Granby was a Memorial Cup, won in 1996 under the Prédateurs banner the year before the move to Nova Scotia. Cape Breton itself has not added a President's Cup since, though the 2001-02 side came closest, reaching the final before losing to the Acadie-Bathurst Titan. The Atlantic Division title from 2003-04 remains the closest thing to silverware earned under the Sydney name.

The dressing room has sent out a run of names now familiar in the National Hockey League. Marc-André Fleury wore number 29 here before three Stanley Cups made his name. Chris Culligan's number 7 hangs alongside it.

On the ice, the fixture that matters most still runs against the Halifax Mooseheads, a meeting long since nicknamed the Battle of Nova Scotia, with the playoff meetings against the Chicoutimi Saguenéens adding their own edge in springtime. Both rivalries play out in front of the same crowd that fills Centre 200 through the Cape Breton winter.
