The team itself came from somewhere else first. It began in 1982 as the Longueuil Chevaliers, and it took the owner Gilles Lupien only five years to move the franchise to Victoriaville and rename it the Tigres. Since the move, the club has played out of the Colisée Desjardins, in yellow, white and black.

The QMJHL's President's Cup has come to Victoriaville twice. The first, in 2002, came after a final against the Rimouski Océanic and carried straight into a Memorial Cup run that ended as runner-up. The second, in 2021, was a 4–2 series win over the Val-d'Or Foreurs. Division titles arrived earlier still, in 1990, 1997 and 2003.

Daniel Corso was named the league's most valuable player in 1996–97, the same season the Tigres took the Dilio Division; Yanni Gourde won the same award in 2011–12 before building an NHL career of his own, part of a line of Victoriaville graduates that also runs through Antoine Vermette and Phillip Danault. None of it changes where the club's roster actually started: in Longueuil, in 1982, five years before Victoriaville had any reason to watch it at all.
