SaiPa U20

The junior sector plays out of Lappeenrannan jäähalli, a rink that holds 4,820.

Twice the age group has been crowned national champion. The first came in 1970, when SaiPa finished the season unbeaten and closed out the final against TPS with an 11–1 rout. The second title, in 2002, was tighter: a 3–1 series win over the same opponent, settled in the deciding game by a shootout after regulation ended 2–2. Bronze medals from the mid-1960s and silver from the seasons either side of them, though it is those two championship runs that get remembered in Lappeenranta.

The club's clearest calling card is Petri Skriko, who went on to the NHL and later returned to coach. Petteri Nokelainen followed a similar path through the draft. Games against Imatran Ketterä, played out as the Etelä-Karjalan derby, still carry the sharpest edge of the local calendar, South Karelia being small enough that the rivalry needs no further explanation.

SaiPa U20 continues in the U20 SM-sarja.
