Canberra Olympic secured a comfortable 3-1 victory over Belconnen United at the NPL Capital Territory Regular Season round 21 on Saturday. The result extends the visitors' grip on the summit of the table while Belconnen's struggles continue. Canberra moved four points clear at the top with 34 points from 14 games.
H. Billington opened the scoring with a penalty in the 32nd minute. D. Celis then drew level before the break with a goal in the 45th minute plus two. The visitors took control after the interval with Celis finding the net again in the 56th minute, followed by further goals in the 57th and 65th minutes to seal the win.
Belconnen sit ninth with just eight points from two wins and two draws. Their recent run has been difficult, including a heavy 7-0 defeat to Monaro Panthers last weekend and four consecutive losses in their previous five matches. They have struggled to find consistency at home.
