Caracas drew 1:1 with Portuguesa in the seventh round of the Clausura stage of the First Division on Wednesday night. The hosts took the lead through Christian Adan·Larotonda Adan before Jose Perez rescued a point for the visitors. By then the match had settled into a measured rhythm, neither side willing to overcommit.
Adan·Larotonda Adan broke the deadlock in the 34th minute, capitalising on a moment of space in the final third. Portuguesa responded with urgency but struggled to create clear-cut chances in the opening half. Luis Moreno picked up a yellow card in the 33rd minute, just before the goal, as tensions began to build.
The second half brought a different complexion to the contest. Portuguesa pushed higher up the pitch and brought on Joel Martínez and Albaro Polo in the 61st minute to sharpen their attack. Perez found his equaliser in the 78th minute, and the visitors finally felt they had earned something from the game.
Both managers made changes throughout the afternoon. Caracas brought on heber garcia early in the second half, followed by Sebastian Gonzalez and Wilfred Correa together in the 54th minute. Portuguesa added Anthony trujillo alongside Alejandro Villarreal in the 73rd minute, looking for fresh legs.
Discipline was tight but not flawless. Five yellow cards were shown across the 90 minutes, with Lucciano Reinoso and german aguirre both booked in stoppage time. The match never descended into disorder, though the number of bookings suggested a competitive edge.
The result leaves Caracas in 10th place with 21 points from 19 games, while Portuguesa move further clear in fourth with 31. The hosts had looked solid in their recent run with three wins and two draws, but this draw offers little ground to make up on the sides above them.
