Örebro visited NP3 Arena on 10 September and took all three points from the Superettan's twenty-third round with a 3-0 win over GIF Sundsvall. The visitors have climbed from fourteenth place on twenty-three points, while Sundsvall remain in sixteenth with just fifteen.
And here's the thing about the opening goal — it came at eighteen minutes when Ahmed Yasin finished the chance and sent the away supporters into a quiet celebration. Sundsvall had kept their shape well enough, but the visitors took their time before striking.
By then the hosts had lost their rhythm. Yasin doubled his tally at fifty-nine minutes, and this time Sundsvall's defence looked as though it had forgotten its instructions. Rasmus Wiedesheim-Paul added the third at eighty minutes, and the visitors refused to go away.
Substitutions came thick and fast after the hour mark, with Sundsvall bringing on Alper Demirol, Edward Carrick, Manasse Kusu, Eron Gojani, Carl Bjork, Karl Holmberg, Ahmed Yasin and Erdal Rakip in quick succession. Gojani and Ludvig Nåvik picked up yellow cards, but the cards were the least of their worries.
The statistics tell their own story. Örebro had sixty-six per cent of possession and one hundred and two attacks against Sundsvall's seventy. The hosts managed only one corner to the visitors' seven, and while Sundsvall hit four shots on target, none found the net.
To be fair, Sundsvall had come into this game on the back of two consecutive victories, beating IK Brage and Norrby 1-0 in their previous two outings. A loss like this, though, puts them under real pressure in the final stretch of the season.
