Al Akhdoud

Promotion in 2021 came through the Second Division, the third tier, and it was the club's second title at that level, the first dating back to 1991-92. Two years later Al-Akhdoud reached the Saudi Pro League for the first time since its founding in Najran in 1976. The route up ran through the lower divisions in stages: a Third Division title in 2003-04, another in 2017-18, then the Second Division breakthrough that finally opened the door to the top flight. None of it looked assured in 2003, when the club came close to disappearing altogether before working its way back through the pyramid.

Najran gave the club its nickname, "Ambassador of Najran", and its ground, the Prince Hathloul bin Abdulaziz Sports City Stadium, holds 10,000.

Local standing is measured against Najran SC, and the meeting between the two is known simply as the Najran Derby, sometimes folded into the wider Southern Derby alongside sides such as Al-Wehda or Abha, but it is the city fixture against Najran SC that carries the weight.
