Dinamo Bucuresti

Dinamo București's rugby section grew out of the same sports club the Ministry of Internal Affairs set up in the capital after the war. Domestically nothing in Romanian rugby has matched what followed for long stretches: seventeen SuperLiga championships, spread from the early 1950s through to 2023, and fourteen Cupa României wins. Only Baia Mare has taken more.

The single result that still sets the club apart came in 1967, when Dinamo beat the French side Béziers 18–12 to win the European Champions Cup. The domestic game has been harder won in recent years: the 2023 league title, beating Baia Mare 17–13 in the final, ended a drought stretching back fifteen years.

Supporters know the team as the Bulldogs, a name that has stuck to the rugby section specifically, separating it from the wider Dinamo family of clubs that share the white-and-red colours. Matches against Steaua carry the weight of the old Eternal Derby, born of the same Interior Ministry versus Defence Ministry rivalry that runs through the football version, while games against Rapid draw their own following as the Bucharest derby.
