«The White-Burgundies»
The railwaymen's club that would become Rapid built its rugby section the way it built its football one. CFR București, the railway workers' team, took up rugby at junior level in the 1960s.
It found its shape under Vasile "Mao" Constantin, who ran the junior team from 1966 to 1996 and won eleven national junior titles in as many seasons. Among them was Marin Ionescu, later president of the Association of Romanian International Rugby Players and remembered for an essay he wrote on the 1979 match against Wales. Tudor "Ahoe" George played and coached at the club and wrote poetry alongside it.
December 1989 took three of its young players.
The senior side never matched the junior one.
