Rockdale City Suns

Forty years passed between the first league title and the second. Rockdale took the New South Wales First Division in 1984, then spent the decades that followed in the tiers below, and only in 2024 did the club finish top of the NPL NSW table again.

The club came out of Sydney's Macedonian community in 1969, founded as Rockdale Ilinden Football Club. The rebrand and the reversal both happened without the ground moving: home has stayed at the Ilinden Sports Centre in Rockdale, which holds 5,000, though only 500 of them sit down.

The 2020 season carried the change and the first of the two premierships together. Rockdale won the regular season that year and lost the grand final, a pattern it repeated in 2024 and again in 2025. The 2013 grand final went the same way.

What the club has won consistently sits outside the league pyramid.
