Rouen Normandie

When Rugby Club de Rouen went bankrupt in 2009, ending a history that stretched back to 1920, the city was without a senior club for barely a season. Stade Rouennais rose in its place, inheriting the same ground, the Stade Robert-Diochon. The new name held for eight years; in 2017, as the club pushed toward professional status, it became Rouen Normandie Rugby, and that year it won the Trophée Jean Prat, the championship of Fédérale 1, French rugby's third tier.

Promotion followed two years later. Rouen won Fédérale 1 again in 2019 and moved up to Pro D2. The stay lasted five seasons: relegation at the end of 2023–2024 sent the club back down to Nationale, where it competed in 2024–2025.

Gabin Villière played on the wing for Stade Rouennais in 2016–2017, a year before the rebrand, and later became a regular for France in both fifteens and sevens. Richard Hill, once England's captain, ran the club as general manager and coach from 2013 to 2023, spanning both title-winning seasons.

Rouen has no local derby to speak of; Seine-Maritime offers none, and the club works with neighbouring Le Havre rather than against it. Its sharpest rivalry runs instead against Sporting Club Albigeois, a fixture in Fédérale 1 and Nationale known as the Choc Tarno-Normand. The Stade Robert-Diochon, taken over along with the club's history in 2009, holds 8,372.
