Acassuso and Colón Santa Fe drew 1:1 in the Primera Nacional during Regular Season match 23 on Friday evening. L. Rey opened the scoring just three minutes in before L. Garate equalised for the visitors in the 84th minute. The result keeps Acassuso 18th with 23 points and leaves Colón fifth on 45.
Acassuso took the lead early and sat deep after that. Colón controlled the ball with 66 per cent possession and launched 49 attacks, but their two shots on target produced nothing more than a single goal. The hosts managed only one shot on target from 24 attacks and made it count.
Colón's V. Serrano picked up two bookings in five minutes before heading off on a red card in the 88th minute. That left the visitors to finish with ten men after already making three substitutions: C. Ibarra, F. Lertora and R. Etcheverri. Acassuso brought on K. Dubini in the 68th minute as they looked to protect their lead.
Acassuso have struggled this season with 15 defeats from 28 games. Their recent form shows a 0:0 draw with San Miguel and a 2:3 loss to Racing Córdoba before that, while Colón have won only one of their last five with a 4:0 victory over Central Norte.
The draw extended Acassuso's unbeaten run to two matches but did nothing to close the gap on safety. Colón remain five points clear of their nearest challengers and still fancy their chances of finishing in the top four.
