KA Akureyri — Hamar, Mizunodeild

KA Akureyri lost 0-3 to Hamar in the Mizunodeild on Saturday evening. The visitors took all three points without conceding, completing a clean sweep of their opening pair of fixtures. The result leaves Akureyri rooted at the foot of the table with zero points from two matches.

And here's the thing — we had Akureyri to win this one at 68 per cent confidence. The match went the other way, and it wasn't a case of narrow margins. Hamar were thorough from the off, and Akureyri never found a rhythm to challenge them.

Hamar now sit second, having won both games so far. Six points from two matches puts them in the driving seat, while Akureyri remain winless after two defeats. The gap between them is already considerable.

To be fair, Akureyri's recent form hasn't inspired confidence. They lost 1-3 to Trottur Reykjavik on 24 September and have mixed results in earlier fixtures. Hamar, meanwhile, came through a 3-1 victory over Afturelding on their most recent outing.

By then, the pattern was clear. Hamar are in control of their opening campaign, and Akureyri cannot afford another slip if they want to avoid a heavy start to the season.
