Evans Mafuta took charge of a squad drawn largely from serving Administration Police officers. The Football Kenya Federation had already stripped APS Bomet of one promotion, ruling out their 2022 National Super League title over administrative failures and fixture breaches. Bomet went back to Division One, won Zone B in 2024, and a June 2025 ruling by the FKF Leagues and Competitions Committee awarded them a 2-0 result over Kibera Black Stars after home fans invaded the pitch, and the points sent the club into the Premier League for 2025/26.

The team, formed in 2014 under Administration Police Service patronage, carries "The Black Berets" as a nickname that says plainly what it is — officers who play football, styled to look the part in green and claret.

Bomet Stadium holds up to 37,000, far more than a newly promoted side draws on an ordinary weekend, but the ground matters less to the club's identity than its opponents in the South Rift.
