Dingolfing Women

Twice in three years, Dingolfing's women have finished top of the 2. Bundesliga South — in 2021/22 and again in 2022/23, matching a title the club had first taken back in 1995/96. After the 2022 championship, the club chose not to go up to the 1. Bundesliga.

The volleyball department itself only became official in 1973, nine years after informal sessions had already started, well over a century after TV Dingolfing was founded as a general sports club in 1868. Matches are played in front of no more than 1,100 people at the Sporthalle Höll-Ost, and the team travels a short distance for the Niederbayern-Derby against Rote Raben Vilsbiburg.

Samira Winkler has run the offence through both recent title wins as setter, and her younger sister Lisa, born in 2006, came through the club's own youth ranks — an academy formalised in 2019 and now recognised as a Bavarian Volleyball Association training centre.

It is still, at its core, the same idea it was in the 1960s.
