Vilsbiburg II Women

The double championship of 2008 and 2010 belongs to the first team, but it set the standard the reserve side still plays toward: Rote Raben Vilsbiburg finished top of the German Championship in 2008, ahead of Dresdner SC and Schweriner SC, and repeated it in 2010 against 1. VC Wiesbaden and Schweriner SC. Between those two titles came a DVV Cup win in 2009, a 3:2 final against Dresdner SC, and a second cup in 2014 against VolleyStars Thüringen. Vilsbiburg II Frauen carries the same colours and the same badge into the 2. Bundesliga South without the trophies to show for it, its best finish a seventh place in 2013/14.

The reserve team exists to feed the first, and the path runs both ways: Pia Fernau, now captain of the German national team, came up through the club before taking on that role in 2026, and Katja Wühler and Lenka Dürr both wore the shirt before their national-team careers took hold.

Vilsbiburg II has a rivalry with TV Dingolfing, styled the Lower Bavaria Derby at 2. Bundesliga level. A 3:0 win over Dingolfing in March 2025 drew more than 1,300 into the Sporthalle, a hall the club shares with two local schools and which holds 2,000, 1,342 of them seated.

The nickname Rote Raben, the Red Ravens, dates to 1998, when the club took that name after nine years as VSV Vilsbiburg. Before that it was simply the volleyball department of TSV Vilsbiburg, set up on 2 October 1971 by a group of teenage boys under Ekkehard Wetzel. The first women's team did not follow until the year after.
