Atika Bouagaa played 58 times for Germany. She won bronze at the 2003 European Championship and went to the 2004 Olympics. She came through the academy of Volleyball-Club Offenburg, known as VCO and now branded Black Forest Volleys Offenburg.

The academy grew from a split. In 1985 the volleyball players left ETSV Offenburg to run their own club, starting with three women's and four men's teams. Youth coaching earned recognition early. The B-youth team won the German championship in 2000, and a year later the club received the Green Band for youth development. Both came before Bouagaa's years with the national team.

The women play in the Sporthalle Nord-West, which holds 950. The club's official nickname is Tiger aus der Nordwesthölle, Tigers from the Northwest Hell.

The club's results in the 2. Bundesliga South come with a qualification. VCO won the division in 2015/16, finished second in 2017 and won it again in 2017/18 and 2018/19. After each of the three titles the club declined promotion for financial reasons. Winning the league did not change the level they played at, and the women are still in the 2. Bundesliga South.

The current squad includes Mariella Bouagaa and Ekaterina Baimler.
