A tiebreak decided it: in the 2023/24 season, Unterhaching's women went the full distance with DJK München Ost, dropped the decider 15:9 and finished the 2. Bundesliga Süd as runners-up. It was the closest the section has come to the top flight since promotion two years earlier.

The women's team plays under the parent club TSV Unterhaching, whose own founding dates to 1910. Green and white are the club colours throughout.

Matches are played at the Geothermie Arena on Utzweg, a hall that seats 1,512 — the name is recent; the building has been known by at least two others before it.

Promotion to the 2. Bundesliga came in 2022. Since then the club has pushed for the Bundesliga itself, and the 2024 runner-up finish was framed at the time as a step toward exactly that. The step beyond it, into the top division, has not yet been taken.
