Karlsruhe-Beiertheim Women

The club that hosts it traces back to a gymnastics society founded on 12 November 1884 in the Beiertheim district of Karlsruhe, long before the volleyball section that now wears its green, white and black existed.

That section has spent most of its recent history working its way up rather than sitting at the top. Promotion arrived in 2022, when SVK Beiertheim finished top of the 3. Liga South and moved into the 2. Bundesliga South.

Katrin Hahn has been the constant through these years, captain long enough that her name is the one supporters reach for when they talk about the team's identity rather than its results. Anela Hadzic and Lea Lumpp carry more of the current squad's attacking weight, while Sophie Schubert and Leonie Klinke belong to an earlier version of the side.

Matches are played at the Friedrich-List-Halle, a hall in Karlsruhe that holds 509 people — small enough that a derby crowd against Offenburg fills it in a way an ordinary league fixture never quite manages.
