Stuttgart II Women

Stuttgart sits at the centre of a volleyball setup that runs two tiers deep. Allianz MTV Stuttgart II plays in the 2. Bundesliga South, a division it cannot leave by winning it: promotion to the top flight and any national title are closed to a reserve side by rule, whatever the table says in May.

The team traces back to 2007, when the women's volleyball sections of MTV Stuttgart and TSV Georgii Allianz Stuttgart pooled their younger players into one squad. The parent club, MTV Stuttgart, had been playing sport in the city since 1843.

Results have moved in a narrow band: sixth in the 2. Bundesliga South in 2011/12, seventh in 2014/15, eleventh in 2021/22. The side sat out 2022/23 altogether, then returned the following season under the name BSP MTV Stuttgart and finished twelfth. Helena Dornheim, Hannah Kohn, Lena Grundt and Moggi Wlk all came through this roster before moving up to play Bundesliga volleyball for Allianz MTV Stuttgart, and that pipeline is what the second team is for. Johannes Koch coaches the side now, working within that same brief of preparing players rather than chasing points against Dresdner SC or SSC Palmberg Schwerin.

Home matches are played at the MTV-Halle MoTiV Feuerbacher Tal, a hall that holds 400 people.
