«Blue Lions»
Kert Toobal has pulled on the blue shirt more often than anyone else who has worn it, 308 caps. The federation behind him traces back to 1923, though under a different sport's name; volleyball itself only got the licence to compete again on 22 July 1992. The first match after that came against Ukraine, in qualifying for the 1993 European Championship.
Growth since has been steady rather than explosive. A bronze in the Golden League followed in 2021, alongside a third-place finish at the FIVB Challenger Cup in 2018.
Alar Rikberg has run the side since 2023, taking over from a coaching line that had already given the team a European identity. Saku Suurhall in Tallinn holds 7,200 for these nights, blue, black and white filling the stands.
An Olympic Games has never been reached, and nor has a World Championship final round.
