The Palazzetto 'Luca Baldassarra' at 207 Via Manzoni seats 1,139, and it is where Altamura has watched its volleyball team.

The team took its name from the city's nickname, 'Leonessa delle Puglie', the Lioness of Puglia. The club dates from 1996, but it became a registered sports association only on 12 October 2006. In 2023, it won Serie C Puglia, Group A. In 2025 it won Serie B2, Group I, which earned promotion to Serie B1.

Its nearest rival in the region is Olio Pantaleo Fasano, and the meetings between the two are billed as the 'derby pugliese', the Apulian derby.

The shirt sponsor, PanBiscò, is a local bread company, and its name is part of the club's official title. Luigi Picerno is both Honorary President and main sponsor, so the same person is the club's public face and its principal backer. The colours are white and orange.
