Marsala Women

Maria Laura Patti left Marsala Volley for nearly a decade and came back in 2021, returning to the club where she had already won three Serie B titles and helped secure promotion to Serie A2 in 2011-12.

That 2011-12 promotion, achieved as Emmegi Engineering Volley Marsala, was followed by a slide back down the divisional ladder and a string of sponsor-driven name changes — Sigel, Seap, GesanCom Fly Volley among them. It won Serie B2 in 2019-20 as Fly Volley Marsala, only for that title to be reassigned to Akademia Sant'Anna Messina, then went back up through the Serie B2 playoffs in 2021-22 under yet another sponsor name, GesanCom Fly Volley Marsala.

The most recent promotion came the harder way. In 2024-25, playing under the current Sigel Seap Marsala Volley banner, the team finished second in Serie B1 and lost in the playoff final — then bought the sporting title from Bologna Volley to take the Serie A2 place anyway, returning to Italy's second tier for 2025-26.

None of it has produced a Scudetto or a Coppa Italia, and the club still plays under the nickname Sicilian fans gave it rather than one of its own choosing: Le sigelline, a diminutive of the Sigel sponsorship that has outlasted several of the names printed on the shirt. Home matches are played in front of up to 3,000 people at Pala San Carlo, in Marsala.
