Liptovsky Hradok Women

Liptovský Hrádok Women go into the 2025/2026 season back in the top division for the first time since 1993/94, after closing out the 1. Liga žien with thirty wins from thirty matches. That record earned the promotion.

The section traces itself to 1973, when the women's team played in the old Czechoslovak first national league. Its youth work has kept the club visible: a Slovak Cup U15 title in 2021, a Youth Cup win at Piešťany, and a first-place finish at an international tournament in Słupsk, Poland, this June. A run to the World Youth Sport Experience title in Spain back in 2016 belongs to the same line of results.

One name threads through that development. Paula Kubová has played for the Slovak national team since 2007 and won silver at the 2016 Women's European Volleyball League. Among the current squad, Júlia Kafková anchors the middle at 185cm, while Miriam Čabajová is the head coach.

The team plays at the Mestská športová hala in Liptovský Hrádok, known locally by its nickname Hrádočanky. One league match this year drew 350 spectators.

What the promotion means becomes clearer once the Niké Extraliga fixture list is out: after so long outside the top flight, Liptovský Hrádok will find out fast which of Slovakia's established sides they can actually live with, and which ones will simply have the deeper squad.
