Žilinčanky, the girls from Žilina, is what the team is called, and behind it stands the University of Žilina (UNIZA). The club says it has been developing young players since 2011.

The UNIZA name was already on Slovak volleyball results in the 1990s. A side called AC Uniza Žilina was champion in 1996 and 1997.

The recent run is unusually even. In 2024/25 the team finished third in the Niké Extraliga žien and second in the Slovak Cup. In 2025/26 it finished in the same places in both competitions, and it also qualified for the Challenge Cup run by the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV). That same season the club's cadets won the national championship.

Home is ŠH T1 Vysokoškolákov, a hall for 300 spectators at ul. Vysokoškolákov 25. The club's colour is yellow.
