Nove Mesto nad Vahom Women

Nové Mesto nad Váhom sits in the Váh river valley, and it is the Považie region that gave the women's volleyball club its name in local sport pages: Považanky. The town's team plays at the Mestská Športová Hala on Javorinská Street, where a 40-metre telescopic tribune with VIP seating went in during November 2013.

The club's paperwork traces to 2007, though the women's side did not appear in the Extraliga Žien until the 2017/18 season. Green and black are the club colours, set out on the town's own web portal rather than left to guesswork.

Považanky have not won the Slovak championship. Their best league finish came in 2021/22, when they took bronze in the Extraliga Žien — the only medal the senior women's team has to show for itself. More recently the side reached the semi-finals of the Slovenský pohár in the 2024/25 campaign, matching itself against the country's established names: Slovan Bratislava, UKF Nitra, UCM Trnava, Prešov, Pezinok.

The club's stronger tradition runs through its youth system. In 2018 the junior boys hosted and won the national championship final tournament in Nové Mesto nad Váhom itself, a result the town's own website still records.
