Selmy Brno Women

Ivona Marková played for Šelmy Brno when they beat their way to the Czech Cup in 2026, and the medal capped a run that had already carried the club to the top of the domestic game. The team traces back only to 2018, built by taking over the project of VK Královo Pole and stocking it with players who already knew how to win rather than starting from a youth pipeline.

The Extraliga title followed twice, in the 2024 and 2026 seasons, and the second of those came alongside the Cup — a double that few Czech women's sides manage in the same year. Šelmy have also tested themselves in Europe, taking part in the CEV Volleyball Cup in 2020 and the CEV Challenge Cup in 2022.

Home games are played at the Vodova arena in Brno's Královo Pole district, a hall the club shares its address with the very rivals it grew out of — VK Královo Pole remain the team on the other side of the Brno derby. When the two meet, or when a title is on the line, the numbers climb well past a normal night: the 2026 championship final drew 4,569 spectators.
