Frydek-Mistek Women

Frýdek-Místek came within one match of a Czech Cup title before most of the current squad's parents had met. In the 2002/2003 final, TJ Sokol Frýdek-Místek pushed VK Královo Pine Brno all the way and lost, a result the club has not come closer to repeating since. Two seasons later, in 2004/2005, the Sokolky finished runners-up in the Extraliga Women, still the highest league placing in the club's history.

Founded in 1978, the club built its identity slowly rather than through silverware — three bronze medals, in 2003/2004, 2014/2015 and again in 2025/2026, mark out the only other times Frýdek-Místek have stood on a podium. Two decades separate the first bronze from the second, and eleven years separate the second from the third, a gap that says more about the club's patience than any single season could.

Pavla Šmídová, a Czech international setter, spent the 2022/2023 season running the offence and is remembered as one of the strongest players to have worn the shirt, though her stay there was brief against the span of the club's history.

The team trains and plays out of the Sokol hall in Frýdek-Místek, a venue tied to the gymnastics movement the club takes its name from, and the address on Novodvorská street has stayed the fixed point through nearly five decades of Extraliga and Cup campaigns.

No opponent has featured in the club's story as heavily as Královo Pole Brno, the side that beat them in the one final Frýdek-Místek reached. It is the defeat the Sokolky have spent the years since trying to answer, without yet getting the chance at a rematch that would count.
