Solna Wieliczka Women

The fixture that matters most for Solna doesn't touch the top of the table. MKS COPCO Imielin sits close enough across the Małopolska region that the two meet in what is known locally as the "małe derby". Wisła Kraków and Hospel Płomień Sosnowiec fill out the calendar, but neither carries the same weight.

Solna plays in the I Liga, the second tier of Polish women's volleyball, and has done since promotion for the 2016/2017 season. The high point came in 2017/2018, when the club finished third. That season also brought a Polish Cup quarter-final and a run of top-four finishes. Financial trouble around 2020 changed the calculation: rather than chase the top of the table, the club turned toward developing its own players and simply holding its place in the division.

That shift shows in results elsewhere. The junior side, SMS Solna Wieliczka, took bronze at the Polish Junior Championships in 2022/2023, after finishes of sixth and fifth in the seasons before.

The club traces back to 1991, when it was formed as the senior women's section of MKS MOS Wieliczka. It has changed name several times since — Powiatowy Park Rozwoju, Kampus Wielicki, and, more recently, sponsor-led variants such as UJ-CM Solna Wieliczka.
